Our First Herizon House Storybook is Here!!!
Introducing…House Wren Finds Her Voice!
An illustrated storybook supporting abused women and their children. House Wren Finds Her Voice is about a little bird who learns that, even though she is small, she can help others in a big way! Author Lisa Deanne is the Community and Event Coordinator at Herizon House and is bringing this charming storybook to schools in the Durham Region this fall. This charming story will touch readers of all ages!
From the book…
When House Wren wakens to a new morning in the forest glen, she looks out at the big world and laments;
“The world is so vast, and I am so small,
There is nothing important about me at all.”
Fortunately, Grandmother Owl is nearby with some encouraging words of wisdom;
“Little wren, don’t forget that each day is a choice,
To do all that you can, with your gift; with your voice!”
As House Wren flies through the woods and over the farm, she has many little adventures that give her the opportunity to help her fellow animals…
“Encouraged, the wren rides the breeze to the pen
Where the rooster is strutting and bossing the hens.
Disheartened, they crouch in the corner and droop
Not seeing the fox who is stalking the coop.”

Hope Rising 2017
On Friday, April 28th we held our third annual benefit concert: Hope Rising! Deer Creek Banquet Facility was the beautiful venue for this event, which was sold to capacity and was a tremendous success! Stacey Renee Music provided the entertainment for the night, and guests were on the dance floor all evening! As we continue to trade stories and impressions of Friday night, we keep coming back to overwhelming support we received. It is so heartwarming to reflect on the enthusiasm and encouragement we experienced through every stage of the event; from the beginning stages of planning and the establishment of our amazing sponsorships, to the joy and celebration of the concert. Needless to say, Hope Rising would not exist without our community support! We depend on the generosity and kindness of all of those who support our mission; in order to operate from day to day, and to continue to come together once a year to share our journey and efforts through this important event. For information on how you can participate in Hope Rising next year, contact our event coordinator, Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org Hope IS Rising!
2016 Holiday Support
Thank you to those who participated in our 2016 “Santa’s List” project! Our goal was to provide gifts for women and children taking steps towards hope with the support of Herizon House. So many wonderful individuals, families, groups and businesses stepped forward and made the Holidays bright for these families. Please consider being a part of this project next season!
At Herizon House, we are so thankful to our community for supporting us through participation in our events, and generous donations. Herizon House held our third annual Handmade and Local Gift Show for crafters and vendors in Ajax on November 26th, 2016. We had a great day and want to thank all of our fantastic vendors, volunteers, guests and sponsors for their support! A special thanks to Don of All Trades for hosting, for the second year, a tremendous bake sale with all proceeds going to benefit Herizon House! We are happy to report that we received donations of new toys, gifts, toiletries, household supplies and non-perishable food items in our Chuck-It Truck! All the gifts will go to benefit families impacted by abuse that access the many services of Herizon House. Contact email@example.com for more information!
